“Ithaca and Ulysses between Myth and Reality” at the Festival del libro e del viaggio
Saturday 12 settembre 4 pm As part of the Festival del Libro e del Viaggio I will be interviewed by Sebastiana Gangemi on the topic "Ithaka and Ulysses between Myth and Realitity. The talk will be based on my "Itaca", published seven years ago, which thanks to the recent renewed interest for the "Odissey" is back on the road. Is the present-day Ithaka the real island of Ulysses? How is Ithaka described by Homer? Are there places on the island which match the descriptions in the "Odyssey"? Are there archeological remains which justify the identification with the island described in the poem? Which mysteries still need to be solved? We will discuss these and other topics in the course of the event. ...
